Dr. Christian Harth serves as President of GSF. Dr. Harth's background includes teaching at the secondary and college levels; academic administration and teacher education; scientific research; curriculum design; and policy planning. He earned a BA at Hobart College, with a double major in political science and international affairs, and received an MA and PhD in political science from the University of Pennsylvania, concentrating in international relations and comparative political economy. He has received several teaching awards and fellowships, including the Dean's Award for Distinguished Teaching at the University of Pennsylvania, where he served as the Teacher-Education Coordinator for their university-wide Writing Program. Dr. Harth also has extensive research experience, investigating topics ranging from chaos and complexity to East Asian development, from geopolitics and grand strategy to the current state of global studies. He has conducted policy-planning research at both academic and government institutions, including the United States Department of the Treasury. Before founding and leading GSF, Dr. Harth's most recent positions were as an Exchange Scholar in the Department of Government at Harvard University and as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Political Science at Bucknell University, where he taught international relations, American foreign policy, and strategic studies.
Dr. Frank Eastman serves as Treasurer of GSF. After receiving his BA in mathematics from Purdue University, Dr. Eastman earned an MA in mathematics education from Teachers College at Columbia University, and a doctorate in education from Rutgers University. He taught at both the secondary and college levels before joining Houghton Mifflin Company and becoming Executive Editor for K-12 math publications. After more than a decade in that position, Dr. Eastman started his own company, Colophon Publishing Services, which produces educational materials for middle and high school instruction. In addition to serving as GSF Treasurer, Dr. Eastman also continues as President of Colophon, a position he has held for the past twenty years.
