GSF Globe Campaign

As part of its larger effort to help young Americans learn about the world, GSF recently announced a campaign to place globes in elementary and secondary classrooms across the country. With the delivery of the GSF’s first globes to Kimball School in Concord, NH, on Friday, May 19, 2006, this campaign has officially begun.

Working with the makers of Hugg-a-Planet and LeapFrog Schoohouse, GSF has embraced a near-term objective of placing globes in at least one school in all fifty states. We currently are seeking individual, institutional, and corporate sponsors for classrooms, schools, districts, and counties.

Early support for the Globe Campaign has come from numerous and varied sources. In February 2006, GSF entered into a partnership with Monkey Rock Records to help fund GSF’s Globe Campaign. The founder of Monkey Rock Records, Mr. Johnny Nicholson, is donating a portion of the company's proceeds from sales and concerts to GSF, as well as to two other nonprofit organizations. These contributions are being used to provide globes for elementary classrooms in Rhode Island and California.

Over the last year, GSF also has found donors across the country interested in sponsoring local schools and districts.  In December 2006, for instance, a couple from Bryn Mawr, PA, Peter and Barbara Miller, donated globes for the Gesu School in Philadelphia, which were received with much enthusiasm.

More recently, GSF launched an initiative called Global Grandparents, a program intended to help connect generations and educate young citizens across the globe, which will directly support our Globe Campaign and which already has provided Hugg-a-Planets and Odyssey Globes to elementary schools in South Carolina.
