GSF Faculty Grant
The Global Studies Grant for Faculty Travel and Professional Development
This grant is designed to encourage and support faculty travel abroad, as well as the integration of this international experience into courses or curriculum. Longer exposure and formative experiences abroad are preferred, as is language training, although having a meaningful experience and sharing it with others are most important. We particularly encourage applications involving work, study, community service, or other collaborative efforts abroad, especially those centering on education and establishing international connections and exchanges.
Applicants must be US citizens and full-time faculty members at accredited secondary or postsecondary educational institutions. Among the most significant selection criteria are program merit and outreach potential, with the strategic significance of countries and languages also considered. Grant recipients will be expected to acknowledge GSF's support, to report on their experience, and to work with GSF to share that experience as widely as possible.
To apply for this grant, please complete our online information form and submit the following materials by July 1:
- A letter of application of no more than two pages that specifies your reasons for traveling, your intended program and schedule, how this particular grant can help you, and how you plan to share your experience with others upon your return;
- A copy of your curriculum vitae;
- A copy of the syllabus of the course(s) that you intend to enrich with this experience and a brief (one page) description of your course development objectives and how you might proceed;
- An official letter of endorsement from your institution indicating your travel and study plans, the anticipated dates, and the insitution's capacity and willingness to receive and process a grant for this purpose from GSF, which is a 501(c)(3), tax-exempt organization (as grant distibutions will be made to the school, department, or program for subsequent redistribution to the recipient).
